Sustainability Engineer/LEED AP Coordinator
Overseas - Dubai
The Role....... Coordinate and provide technical expertise to the Front-End Engineering Design teams. There will be LEED AP’s working in Architecture, Building Physics, Structural Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical etc. So your task will be to oversee and verify their designs according to best practice and company quality standards. You will ensure maintenance of those standards by always keeping up with latest developments in sustainable design and advising/training LEED AP’s as necessary. In short – the customers want cutting-edge “green” solutions for their new building and it’s your job to make sure they get them.
The company.......One of the world’s leading engineering design firms. With 40 years experience and 2000+ staff in the gulf alone, they are the region’s top player. They got to be the best by following one simple mantra – Excellence in everything they do. When there are world-class projects going on – these guys are there....and we are not talking just million dollar projects or even billion dollar but multi-billion dollar projects. So, it is only fair that they seek out the best staff...........you?
The person.......Degree qualified in engineering or Architecture and a LEED Accredited Professional with at least 5 LEED certified projects under your belt. Significant design experience, understanding of international and environmental design standards and experience in making presentations to clients is essential. CPEng or IEng , environmental design (use of IES Design Suite, Ecotect, Radiance), designing for 50+ storey towers in a hot climate and knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems would all be an advantage. You should therefore be passionate about the environment and be the champion of best practice. You should be able to effectively and enthusiastically communicate this to clients and company staff.
The location.......Western media has led many people to believe that the Middle East is a backward, unruly place where only single men went to work in the oil business. Nothing could be further from the truth. The United Arab Emirates offer a modern, progressive and very safe environment which is now home for many thousands of expatriate families. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are thriving, cosmopolitan cities that rival anything in the west – except you are far more likely to get mugged in downtown Washington than Dubai. With a hot climate, fabulous beaches and all the watersports you can dream of right on your doorstep – it is a great place for singlies and families alike. Popularity has its price though and property prices/rents are high.
The rewards.......Employers are aware of the cost of living so will compensate you with the following:
• A very competitive tax-free salary
• Tax-free accommodation and transportation allowances
• Company bonuses
• 30 days annual leave
• Health and life cover
• Free flight home annually.
